Sheila Kissane Marshall, the founder of Boutros Bear, designed the original 12 week “living well” cancer prehabilition and rehabilitation programmes following her own diagnosis of breast cancer. Sheila worked with a team of Oncology experts, Physiotherapists and Level 4 cancer care qualified Personal Trainers to produce an evidence-based programme to reduce the side effects of cancer treatments.

Sheila and her partners have used their experience of prehabilitation to create their new free 12 -week programme in response to the current health crisis.

Sheila has an Engineering (Aeronautical, Mechanical and Civil) degree from Queen Mary and Westfield, she specialised as a Civil Engineer and has managed the delivery of significant projects for BAA, DAA, and the developers of the Shard. Sheila also works as a coach, advising start-up companies on the University of Cambridge Judge Business School’s Accelerate programme and is an investor in Cambridge-based start-ups. Sheila is the Independent Project Board Chair for the Royal Cambridge Hotel Project, is a Trustee for the new Cambridge ice rink, and the Cambridge United Charitable Trust and an active participant in the Cambridge Homelessness summit. She also enjoys speaking about the hugely exciting world of engineering, and inspiring young people to pursue the best career on the planet.

Sheila lives in Cambridge with her husband Rob, two children and mad Spaniel.

Clinical advice from Hugo

Dr Hugo Ford is our Clinical Board advisor and Hugo is the Director of Cancer Services at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He undertook specialist training in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and studied for his postgraduate (MD) degree at the Institute of Cancer Research for which he was awarded the Sir Lionel Whitby Medal. His special interest is in gastrointestinal cancer. His current research mainly relates to the mechanisms of sensitivity and resistance to chemotherapy drugs in oesophageal and gastric cancers. He is a member of the National Cancer Research Network Upper GI Clinical Studies group, and is the lead investigator for a number of multicentre clinical trials.

Active with Amy

Amy Kiser Schemper is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor with 15 years working in the industry, and a busy mom of 2. She has a Master’s of Exercise Science from Concordia University in Chicago, and two undergraduate degrees from Virginia Tech. . Amy is the founder of BodyFit by Amy, an online fitness community and YouTube Channel. After many years working in gyms, Amy wanted to find a way to make fitness accessible to everyone, so she started filming YouTube videos. Now the BodyFit Community includes over half a million subscribers, spanning 180 countries!

In addition to specializing in circuit training and interval training for maximum results, Amy is trained in Boxing, Mat Pilates, Kettlebell, TRX, Sports Specific Training, Yoga, Prenatal and Postnatal Training and Nutrition. She has trained clients of all ages and all fitness levels. A lifelong athlete, Amy has competed in marathons, half marathons, triathlons and more. In 2014, Amy was one of the Top 5 Finalists in Women’s Health Magazine’s Next Fitness Star Contest, and has been featured on Good Morning America, Extra, and The Doctors. Amy is originally from VA, spent a few cold years in Chicago, and now lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband Kurt, and her two children.

Buddy Monty

Monty is a Blue roan sprocker spaniel, with 3 years experience of cross country long distance running and is an expert in sleep. He’s was an awesome cancer buddy and an excellent trainer during my recovery, often encouraging me out the door, when I need a bit of motivation.

His attitude to healthy eating, is sadly less than desirable.
